The Upcoming Elections

Dear beloved:  With the elections looming large less than two weeks away, it is important to keep in mind God's perspective in the elections, and what He desires for this nation.  Many are still undecided on who they will vote for, if you are one of those reading this blog consider the issues and candidates from God's point of view.  The Lord instructs us through Solomon that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs 14:34)  That is a far cry from the current political climate and debates, where virtually the only topic considered worthy of discussion is the economy, taxation, and the national debt.  While all these issues are very important, it is interesting to note that the discussion of moral issues, those issues that define the righteousness of a nation, are for the most part considered off limits for discussion.  Is it because these issues are the ones that truly reveal the heart and character of a candidate?  Because these are issues of the heart, they are the ones that are of utmost importance to God, for as rightousness exalts a nation, it is obvious that without righteousness this nation will not be exalted.

The two most important issues from God's point of view are these: 1) the sanctity of human life, for this is the foundation of all life and human activity under God's heaven.  In Genesis 1:26 God said, "Let Us (Triune God) make man in our Our image, according to our likeness; ;and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." v27 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  And so the taking of human life through abortion is a complete and total rebellion against God's sovereign right to grant life here on this earth.  Even nature itself testifies against abortion, as humans for the most part are the only creatures on earth that intentionally, in a premeditated fashion, murder their young while in the protection of the mother's womb.  The propagation of the culture of death that begins with abortion speaks volumes about the heart of a person and of a nation; as long as unlimited abortion is the law of the land in America, the curses of God and the loosing of the devil will be profound upon this land.  2) The second issue that is close to the heart of God is the sanctity of marriage, this arises out of the first, as God has sovereignly created man and woman so they are the earthly creators of the next generation of Godly people; in addition, man and woman in marriage are also the earthly picture of Jesus Christ the Bridgroom, and His earthly bride the church (Ephesians 5:27-32).  And so the antithesis of God's plan for marriage and procreation is homosexual marriage, as it is open rebellion towards God's plan for human sexuality and procreation, as well as His picture of Christ and His bride, the church.  Can Christ be truly wedded to a church that full of spots, wrinkles, and perversions? No.

One prominent party, the Democratic party, and virtually all of its candidates are sold out to the institutions of abortion and homosexual marriage, these two parts of their platform are paramount and leave no room for doubt as to where they stand.  As you consider your vote, and how best to bring the blessings of the Lord onto this land, keep in mind the view from the Lord's vantage point, and vote accordingly.  God is not interested in the labels that men adopt for themselves, though that is something to consider, but God is primarily interested in the heart, as that is what He sees.  Romans 2:14 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law unto themselves, v15 in that they show the work of the Law written on their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my Gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. Party affiliation is increasingly becoming an affirmation or rejection of these two issues, so it becomes quite easy to size up a candidate.  In the case of this year's election, a self proclaimed Mormon (gentile), instinctively does the things of the Law, because that moral code of God's will is written on his heart.  Another who claims to be Christian, but is in fact gentile (mixture of christian and muslim), obeys not the Law, so his thoughts accuse him before the righteous judgment of God.  Pray about it, you will see it.  God bless you, Jim
