Gifts Manifest part 2 by Jim Rowh

Gifts Manifest part 2
by Jim Rowh

Dear beloved:
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:1 to pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts... Can you imagine how surprised the apostles were in the second chapter of Acts when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh and they began to speak in tongues, it must have been a shock to them as well as to the people who were listening to their message. We don't need to understand tongues or the other gifts of the Holy Spirit to desire or appreciate them, we desire them simply because they are given by God, that is reason enough. Many people do not receive the gifts because they have preconceived ideas or prejudices against how it will look, or how it will sound, and so with their human understanding they talk themselves out of the neccessity or the desire for the gifts.

Paul talks about the supernatural nature of the spiritual wisdom in 1 Corinthians 2:9 but just as it is written,"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those that love Him." v10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. v11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of a man, which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God, no one knows except the Spirit of God. v12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God that we might know the things freely given to us by God, v13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words....in other words, in our limited human, natural understanding, we will never comprehend fully the gift of tongues or some of the other gifts of the Holy Spirit, we just have to let go and ask to receive simply because we desire them from God, and we know that God desires to giv e good gifts to His children.

Paul goes on to say about tongues, in 1 Cor. 12:2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. And in v4 One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church. v5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy.... and so Paul declares his wish and God's will that we all speak in tongues and prophesy. Tongues is the voice of God, one who speaks in tongues is speaking directly to God, with no interference from the mind with its limited and shallow reasoning. It is for personal edification, for the building up of the body by building each warrior strong, and ready to stand in the battle. What believer would not want that for himself.?

I have spoken prayers of the mind and understanding many time s in the prison over inmates in deliverance sessions, and barely seen a ripple; but when prayers are spoken over them in tongues, an explosion takes place and they are moved often to repent. Psalm 29:3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; The God of Glory thunders, the Lord is over many waters. v4 The voice of the Lord is powerful, the voice of the Lord is majestic. v5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. v6 And He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. v7 The voice of the Lord hews out flames of fire. v8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. v9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer to calve, and strips the forests bare, and in His temple everything says, "Glory!"

Are you ready beloved to cry Glory? Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened .

God bless you this day, in Christ,
Jim Rowh
