Let the River Flow

Dear beloved: The beauty and power of a truly apostolic meeting was in evidence at the prison last night. After a time of praise and worship, the Holy Spirit said to me, 'just wait on the Lord for while'. so I kept playing a song softly on the guitar as we waited on the Lord to prompt men to speak scripture and prophesy. As the Spirit started to move in the men, they began to prophesy and also to speak scripture from memory as well as look up and speak certain scripture that had meaning to them. This went on for about 20 minutes and was powerful in its effect on us and just its presence. The first scripture spoken was Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. One brother started to recite some scripture in James 1, and ended up quoting from memory the whole chapter of James 1. Another brother who has a very refined prophetic gift gave a word of prophecy for those in the room who were burdened down with concerns for their families, and it hit home with many in the room. It is a beautiful sight to see the Holy Spirit flow like a river and touch every person in the room with His mighty power.

Paul states in 1 Corinthians 14:26 What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation (prophecy), has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. Then he goes on to state that two or three words should be given in tongues, with an interpretation, and then two or three prophets should speak, give revelation, and the others should pass judgment. v31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be exhorted. v32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to prophets. v33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. So you see when all things are done peacefully and in order, the service is flowing and full of power, seamless as the word comes forth from one person after another. It is rather easy in a situation such as that to discern a false prophet, because his word does not fit with the others, it stands out either in its content or motive, or even sometimes in the delivery.

Psalm 46:4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of our God. The holy dwelling places of the Most High....beloved, the river is Jesus Christ, and he flows in streams through each believer by means of the Holy Spirit. Many of our New Testament churches have drifted away from the original model presented by Paul, and God wants to bring us back to that New Testament model. God is saying this year is a year of transition into a new river, a higher realm of glory, a surge of Holy Spirit power that will bring us back. Let the river flow, let the river flow, Holy Spirit come, move with power! God bless you as you pray this day, in Christ, Jim
