prayer and fasting pt5

Dear beloved: As we enter into the middays of the fast, satan will do everything he can to try to get you to relax your resolve, to go slack on your pledge to the Lord. Do not give in to him, do your best to keep your pledge, to hang in there. Again Matthew 4 is a great passage to study as Jesus went into the wilderness to fast and pray for 40 days. You will notice that Jesus began His ministry not by preaching or casting out demons or healing the sick, He began it by fasting and praying. Matt4:2 And after He had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, He then became hungry. v3 and the tempter came and said to Him" if you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." v4 but He answered and said, " it is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God". Therein lies the way to resist the devil when he tries to tempt you away from your resolve. Learn to live, sustain yourself on the word of God. Ezekiel 3:1 Then He said to me, "son of man, eat what you find; eat that scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel." v2 So I opened my mouth and He fed me the scroll. v3 and He said to me, "son of man, feed your stomach, and fill your body with this scroll that I am giving you". Then I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth. v4 Then He said to me, "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with my words to them"..... God wants to put His word into your stomach so you can go and speak to a stubborn and rebellious house v10 Moreover He said to me," son of man, take into your heart all My words which I will speak to you, and listen closely. v11 and go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or not", thus says the Lord God.... God calls us to go speak to the exiles, to give them the word of God, the good news of salvation. Do not be content with just "making it through a fast", whatever that means to you. Ask God to start showing you your destiny in His kingdom, to reveal to you your divine purpose.
Last night at the prison a man got up and gave a testimony. Has has only been a Christian 4 months and God is already starting to reveal to him his destiny. He was given a dream by the Lord in which he was preaching at a gathering in Wichita, his home city, and rival gangs came into the meeting and began to lay down their gang colors. God is showing him his divine destiny. In another dream a homeless man came to him and thanked him for feeding him sandwiches and hot coffee. In the real life before he went to prison, the brother giving the testimony had taken his money and bought sandwiches and hot drinks for a bunch of bums living in a park in Wichita. God will reveal to you the purpose for which you were created as you press in during this fast. 21 days can seem like a long time to fast, but it is a very precious and special time. God has led you to this point in your life for a divine encounter with Him, your Creator. Ask Him for more, He will give it to you.
I will close with this word from Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. v5 commit your way unto the Lord, and He will bring it to pass. God bless you fasters, may the God of all Creation give you strength. in Christ, Jim
