Dear beloved: The Lord is stirring the prophetic gift in the church this day as never before since the days of Ezekiel and Jeremiah, because as the end days draw near, God will do everything in His power to bring people to a place of repentance. Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but all to come to know repentance. v10 but the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Are you ready for that day beloved? If Jesus Christ were to come back for His bride today, would you rejoice or repent, would you shout for joy at His appearing or would you cringe with regret? Peter goes on to say in v11 Since these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, v12 looking for and hastening the coming day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destoyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! v13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
In Revelation 19:10 we are told that the testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy. Those of you who have put on Jesus ( you were buried with Him in baptism, Col.2:12: you were clothed with Him in baptism Gal 3:27; you are in Him 2 Cor.5:17) you therefore have the spirit of prophecy. At the very least it means that you are able to speak truth into the lives of those that don't know Him, and for those who do know Him God will give you words of encouragement, exhortation, and sometimes rebuke and instruction. It also means that you should be willing to receive prophecy spoken into your life, for we know that judgement begins with the house of God; therefore, we as Christians should be most willing to receive correction, exhortation, and forthtelling in our walk with the Lord. Are you willing to receive prophetic words from others, are you hungry for encouragement, do you take in rebuke and instruction? If you do God will bless you as He shapes you and molds you into the image of His Son. If you do not then you are quenching the Holy Spirit and you are not going to move forward in your walk. Paul tells us in 1Thess. 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit v20 do not despise prophetic utterances, v21 But examine everthing carefully; hold fast to that which is good; v22 abstain from every form of evil.
Allow God to speak into your life and you will grow and move forward in your Christian walk. Let me ask you beloved, are there certain people or groups you shy away from because you fear exhortation or instruction that might take you out of your comfort zone? Or are there certain pet doctrines or teachings that you cling to that really aren't based on sound Bible doctrine? Are there habits, patterns of behavior, or time wasters that steal large amounts of your time that could be better spent in Bible study, prayer, or worship of the Lord? The prophets are the guides for the Body of Christ, their job is to get us ready, or I should say, if you have the gift of prophecy your job is to get the Body of Christ ready. Start exercising your gift. You will grow as you do, and the Body will be ready! God bless you this day as you pray, in Christ, Jim
